DocQ turns 1 year old (kinda, sorta)

1 year old. Anyone remember what it was like when they turned 1? I don’t. But, I do remember when each of my children turned 1 year old, which is typically signified by leaving them in their diapers only and letting them have a go at a slice of buttercream laced cake. Unfortunately, with a product it’s rather hard to feed it cake 🙂

So, we did the next best thing. We gave it an upgrade. And, like anything we do here, the upgrade is quite a big one, some may even say it is revolutionary. In any case, instead of digressing on the upgrade (which we’ve already done), I’d like to take the time to share our journey about DocQ turning 1 year old.

Technically DocQ is 2 years old (kinda, sorta)

In all honesty, the first release of DocQ was around this time in 2019. However, we didn’t really acknowledge it, since it was in between a PoC and an MVP, closer to an MVP.

What we did know was that we had an amazing product on our hands, just didn’t know how to market it, or create the proper messaging around it. And just like any startup we cast a wide net, selling and demoing it to anyone willing to lend an ear. Not a bad strategy, but not the smartest.

However, our break through came from a financial and “marketing” risk we took by sending a few of us to Websummit in Portugal. It is one of the largest tech conferences in the world, and we got a very small booth, barely wide enough for a laptop and a stand-alone monitor to showcase DocQ to potential investors, clients and partners.

We met with investors, clients and would-be partners. But, the one thing we weren’t looking for, which turned out to be a defining moment (I believe) for us, was meeting with Boomtown and later joining their accelerator. Boomtown helped us to pivot, a great deal on our business model, the product and marketing.

Our first customer, partners and more customers

Coming out of the accelerator, we relaunched DocQ, and almost immediately landed our first customer. Read about their use case here. Without them, along with other customers and our partners, we would not have made it this far.

We are tremendously grateful for all who has given DocQ an opportunity to help with their business needs. Considering where we were a year ago, DocQ could’ve remained a blip of a dream we once had, whereas now DocQ is becoming a true industry disruptor.

The team makes the dream work

With rapid growth and traction, we had to expand our team from 7 to 25 within a year, and we’re not done. We’re projecting a growth to 40 – 45 by end of year.

Without our dedicated and highly skilled team, our wonderful customers would’ve reconsidered their choices. A good team is truly the heart and engine of any company. We have a team member so smart, we even considered creating an official title called “Grandmaster Wizard of Code” 🙂

DocQ has plenty of room to grow and we’re far from being done. The roadmap has a 2 year backlog and we haven’t even turned on the sales/marketing knob, let alone executed our channel partner playbook. We’re on the cusp of something amazing and the adventure is just starting.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DocQ!
